I'm Kate. I love movement in all of its forms. It has always been an integral part of my life.
I was a gymnast for the first two thirds of my life, during which time I was fortunate to have competed in two Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, and Athens 2004). An appreciation for physiotherapy during my athletic career led me to pursue it in my professional career, and so I have been working as a physiotherapist in the orthopaedic and sports realm since 2010. The pilates method really resonated with my approach to rehabilitation, and so I pursued rehab-specific training in the Stott method, as well as a Classical pilates diploma from the Embody School of Pilates in Canmore.
My physiotherapy practice is constantly evolving, influenced by continuing education and experience - with clients as well as in my own body. My practice aims to meet you wherever you are on the movement spectrum, and empower you to move more freely, with more confidence and more autonomy over your own body.
There is no shortage of wonderful health professionals in Fernie to help you find solutions to whatever holds you back. Where I fit in is in promoting full end-stage recovery - making sure that the injured segment is reintegrated into the whole body system. I am constantly inspired by the opportunities that our wonderful mountain setting presents, and by the enthusiasm with which they are seized by Fernie’s residents. It is my aim to give you the knowledge and tools to help you meet your movement goals, so that when the mountains are calling, there is nothing holding you back.
